INSTALL INFORMATION:

It is designed to unzip to the correct directories if you unzip into the Half-Life directory.

darkness2.bsp, darkness2.txt, and Darkness 2 info.txt all go in Half-life/tfc/maps/
m_light1.wav, m_thund1.wav, and m_thund2.wav go in Half-Life/tfc/sound/M1/
noaccess.wav, and all the cap wavs(theycap.wav, etc) go in tfc/sound/M1/

That should work.  If it doesn't, then you're hosed.

PLAY INFORMATION:

This is a Capture the Flag map.  There are no elevators.  There are no ladders.  There are no secrets.  The only moving objects are the doors to the respawn rooms.

THE START:
The respawn room doors don't open for 30 seconds after the map starts to give people time to join.
After that, there are barriers over the exits to the bases that will fall after some time..  This should give engineers and defenders a few seconds to start getting set up.  These barriers, however CAN BE DESTROYED EARLY!  It takes a hell of a lot of firepower to do it, so a team that concentrates on a single barrier has a good chance to get a jump on a less organized team.  The time before they fall depends upon the map settings at the server you are playing on.  Further explanations below.

THE WALL:
The Wall is the name for the large wall between the two bases.  It is a vital tactical location.  On top of the wall is the main capture point for both teams.  Under the wall is a single CONTROL POINT.  If you touch this point, your team will gain control of The Wall for 45 seconds.  This gives your team access to TEAM ONLY resupply points under and on top of the wall.  This does not score any points.  This does not affect in any way the capture points on the wall.  After 45 seconds, control of the wall is lost until someone touches the control point again.

SCORING:
There are two capture points per team.  The first one is on the center wall.  If you take the flag to this point, your team will receive 3 points and a health and armor bonus when you score.  You will recieve 1 frag.
The second capture point is on the top balcony of your base.  If you take the flag to this point, your team will recieve 2 points but will NOT receive any kind of health or armor bonus, but YOU will receive FULL health, armor, ammo, and SIX frags.

SIZING OPTIONS:

This map comes with three play options which can be changed with the included BAT files.

The options are:

1. SMALL SIZE.  The map is made smaller.  It is optimized for public play or small clan matches.  Part of the first floor of each base is closed off.

2. LARGE SIZE.  This option will increase the number of access routes on the first floor of each base.  It is optimized for full Clan battles.

3. HELL WALLS VARIATION.  This option sets it so the barriers DO NOT FALL for over 20 minutes.  You have to destroy them to get past them.  It shifts the map into a tactical defensive battle.

Darkness2.bsp was semi-released as a small scale test on December 22, 1999.  It didn't work out real well.
darkness_2.bsp is an improved version.  Vastly improved.  Released February 22, 2000.

DARKNESS 1 VS. DARKNESS 2

You do NOT need the ma1.wad file to play Darkness 2.
The underground has been streamlined and reduced in size.
The central wall is a better capture point than the balcony.  You get more team points and a fast turnaround time.
